Breeding Information

At Lightning Belgians, we do not always have puppies or adult dogs available. We breed to improve the breed.

This starts with pedigrees and knowing the dogs behind the dogs we are breeding. We look toward those who will help us improve from our last generation in not only temperament, structure, but also in health.

Next, we look at health testing's that have been done on the potential pair.  They must pass All OFA Health screenings recommended for Belgian Sheepdogs. Which Hips, Elbows and Eyes. Thyroid is another test for Belgians, but not mandatory.

Breeding isn't for the faint of heart and should never be about making easy money!

Serious inquiries always welcomed!

Availability may be limited depending on litter size. Our pups are well suited for conformation/show, performance sports (agility, herding, dock diving, obedience, rally, nose work, etc.) or working homes (Search and Rescue, and as possible Service Dogs.), but we do have a couple of pet pups out of each litter suitable for active companion homes who are prepared to spend the training time required for a active breed as Belgian Sheepdogs tend to be. We highly recommend doing your research before deciding if this is the right breed for you as they do not suit everyone's lifestyle. Is a Belgian for me? We are always happy to answer any of your questions as well.

ALL puppies are born and raised in our house, using the Avidog Adventure Box, Dean Lake's Puppy Sounds CD, Dean Lake's Obedience Trial Sounds CD, Dean Lake's Indoor Agility Trial Sounds CD, Wobble Board, Tippy Board, Tunnel, Shallow Pool of Water, Mini A-Frame, and much, much more... I try my best to give each puppy a great start in their life.

  • Between 7-8 weeks the puppies will be temperament tested using the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test (PAT).

  • Between 9-10 weeks the puppies will have structural evaluations done, to determine show prospects.

  • Puppies head to their new homes at 10 weeks.

We will NOT sell to:

  • Puppy brokers

  • Laboratories

  • Large scale kennels (puppy mills)

* We also do not ship our puppies! *

Lots of puppy photos.... sit back and watch.!!
