Planned Breedings

At Lightning Belgians, we do not always have puppies or dogs available for sale. We breed to improve the breed, and to produce our next generations of Belgian Sheepdogs for the shows.

This starts with pedigrees and knowing the dogs behind the dogs we are breeding. All breeders have their favorite lines and types, and we look toward those who will help us improve from our last generation in not only temperament, structure, but also in health.

Health testing's is the next criteria that comes with selecting the next pairing. They must pass their OFA Health screenings recommended for Belgian Sheepdogs. Which Hips, Elbows and Eyes. But the more health testing's the better.

Breeding isn't for the faint of heart, and should never be about making money!

Serious inquiries always welcomed!

As we typically reserve a few puppies for show/performance purposes from a planned breeding, availability may be limited depending on litter size. Our pups are well suited for conformation/show, performance sports (agility, herding, dock diving, obedience, rally, nose work, etc.) or working homes (Search and Rescue, and Service Dogs, etc.), but we do have a couple of pet pups out of each litter suitable for active companion homes who are prepared to spend the training time required for a active breed as Belgian Sheepdogs tend to be. We highly recommend doing your research before deciding if this is the right breed for you as they do not suit everyone's lifestyle. We are always happy to answer any of your questions as well.

ALL puppies are born and raised in our house, using the Avidog Adventure Box, Dean Lake's Puppy Sounds CD, Dean Lake's Obedience Trial Sounds CD, Dean Lake's Indoor Agility Trial Sounds CD, Wobble Board, Tippy Board, Tunnel, Shallow Pool of Water, Mini A-Frame, and much, much more... I try my best to give each puppy a great start in their life. See below for more information.

They are ALWAYS welcomed back to my home for whatever reason!!
